UX for Taxonomy section in admin

It would be great to be able to have a toggle (accordion) on the bottom of content when creating where taxonomy is - For example you would open the Taxonomy on the edit page only if you planned on tagging the content. This would help a great deal for sites that rely so heavily on taxonomy (web 3.0 is definitely about CONTEXT) :)
Thanks for your consideration.

  • One site I work on has six vocabularies available for Pages; I'm sure there are sites with more but I bet it's rare (and may be avoidable by using nested terms). With six vocabularies, it is a big block but I don't care because the only thing below it are Save and Cancel buttons which are also available at the top of the sidebar. Is it more in the way in the edit view of other content types?

If the taxonomy term area was collapsed by default, I might be annoyed if I had to click to expand the it every time to access the fields. When I have taxonomies for content types, it's because I use them.

I agree with your point but I sometimes use even more than six.  What my actual idea is for there to be a way in the APP SETTINGS to say you want to see them or you want them collapsed - like PUBLICATIONS has many preference settings in the APP itself I'm looking to expand that in Taxonomy as well.
